"Beausoleil" Bobby Beausoleil, Manson family associate. "reaping Nirvana in a desert land" The desert land is Death Valley, where the Manson family resided. "Thine anger rising like a scorpion" Occult film director Kenneth Anger directed the film Scorpio Rising and was originally going to cast Bobby Beausoleil in his film Lucifer Rising. "dune buggy baby on a fairground slide" The fairground slide was the inspiration for the Beatle's song "Helter Skelter," which was also the codename for Manson's predicted race war, in which the family would ride around on dune buggies ruling the land. "the taste of honey and the swirl of flies" "jackbooting wide-eyed in the deepest pit" "looking at smiles and seeing only grins" "did dead gods smell when the dog's blood rose?" Dogs Blood Rising was an early Current 93 release. It may also relate to the supposed underground occult group Circe, Order of Dog's Blood which was apparently operating in southern California in the late '60s (and probably inspired David Tibet's pre-Current 93 project, Dogs Blood Order). "now all Thine summers turn to menstrual winters" Menstruation was a frequent reference in early Current 93. "kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill killy kill" David Tibet uses this phrasing again in "Nightmare Culture" "beautiful sunshine whose shadow hides" A reference to the translation of Beausoleil's name and the irony behind it belonging to such a historically dark figure. The alternate version of this song is called "The Ballad of Bobby Sunshine". "white brothers planting burning crosses" A reference to the KKK "the sharpest flavour is the one that stains" I got nothin'. "when dog's blood rises does it also dance?" See above. "grey benediction of the final church" A reference to the Process Church of the Final Judgment, with which Manson was (allegedly) associated. "it's just your habit of culling time" No idea. "a Death In June under a menstrual moon" A reference to Current 93's contemporary band, Death In June. "Scorpio rising but the Light Bearer falls" Another reference to Kenneth Anger's films and Beausoleil's failed role as Lucifer. "the squeaky laughter of a giddy world" Manson family member Squeaky Fromme got her nickname from her style of laugh. "still waving black flags from a stubble field a maltese cross is pierced by the blood of Christ hiding from cancer crabs and cracking jokes arson archbishop makes the deserts burn" Not sure about any of these. "the dead are grateful ("all you need is love")" References to California psychedelic rock band The Grateful Dead and to the Beatles. "fat Buddhas smiling with the widest grin candy floss surgeon with the golden hair" Got nothin' "a brand new process for a brand new age" Another reference to the Process Church. "a black Messiah wearing buckskin boots" This could relate to Manson's predicted race war. "assassin creepy-crawls through Hebron's Vale" A reference to the Manson killings themselves. "another martyr for the Noddy Apocalypse" British children's character Noddy was an obsession of David Tibet's for a time, and the apocalypse continues to be. "there's no business like the devil's business" Farmily member Tex Watson said "I am the devil and I'm here to do the devil's business" before murdering Wojciech Frykowski. "que será, será we want to sink into the deepest basin Beausoleil, fils de perdition, Luciferens 7 and 7 is the hidden key" No idea, except for the obvious song reference in Que sera sera and the occult references in the other lines. "a train to Clarkesville in the menstrual night" A reference to the Monkees' hit song. "Disneyland darkens with your Armageddon smile" This could refer to the state of fear over southern California at the time of the murders. "sangs rGyas chos dang tsogs kyi mChog rNams la" This is Tibetan, but I don't know what it means. "you hide your candle on Golgotha's hill" Golgotha was where Christ was crucified. All the other lyrics are repeats. |
