i personally think this song is about a secret admirer. this admirer has been 'ghosting' this other persons life for quite some time now, leaving around notes and gifts, just to remind them that there's someone who loves them. he finally decides to 'come out of hiding' by revealing himself to his romantic interest, and he leaves 'his sheets folded neat and tidy' by leaving them a note or something similar warning that he will be revealed soon. 'you dont need treats, you dont need tricks, and you dont need me' signifies that the secret admirer no longer thinks his romantic interest needs to be left anonymous gifts anymore, and that he doesnt need to be unknown to them. 'hey, would it be so bad if i stayed? i'm just a ghost out of his grave' means that he is asking his interest to be his partner, and the further lyrics go on to say how nice he will treat the significant other. |
