| It's the national anthem for the women's rights campaign. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – The Becoming Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It kind of sounds like a serial killer finally becoming possessed by his own demons ('Becoming'), and trying his best to fight it off. A terrifying song, but excellent, I think it's perhaps the albums centre piece and turning point for the narrators descent into madness/hell, you only need to hear the ghostly sounds (even demonic) that were heard in the previous tracks, but now make up a large part of the music. I also think that lyrically, it's perhaps the scariest song on The Downward Spiral, which is saying ALOT. | |

| I think that's an excellent analogy! It definitely has a fairly sinister feel to it lyrically, like possession, but at the same time he did this type of thing on The Becoming off The Downward Spiral. If you go back and listen to that song, the themes are eerily similar (The Becoming was a much better song though). | |

That's kind of what I'm thinking, don't mean to delve into conspiracy theories or anything like it, but it kind of comes across as a Freemason expose. "I'm afraid we're going to ask you to leave Guess you cannot win With the color of your skin You won't be getting in to the Promised Land This is just another case You people still don't know your place Step aside, out the way, wipe that look off your face 'Cause we are the divine Separated from the swine." |
