| The song has nothing to do with hooking up. It's simply about a person getting caught up unintentionally in badmouthing someone behind their back. The person "waiting for something nice to say" at the "backyard burning" cannot get in a word edgewise in defense of the person being trashed by others, and eventually gets caught up in the trash-talking him or herself (too late to decide, my lips are open wide). | |
