Danny is like Ric Ocasek, he loves writing creative gibberish that makes people overanalyze his creative nonsense. So which are you, reptile or samurai? Personally, I like my water hot. |

Classic Knopfler, parodying a materialistic hipster that literally cares about nothing in life except flaunting his wealth. |

The song is the reflections of a mad killer that has absolutely no remorse for anything he has done. And he embraces the end of his life because he is void of any love for life. I think Danzig was trying to shock and channel that dark side. |

I think it is a song about not fitting in anymore. He is saying his ways and music have not changed, but California's reception to it has changed. But Dwight refuses to change to meet the new standard in California. Might be in relation to the demise of the Bakersfield sound. |

I think it is about making your own world for yourself. Two people that love each other are oblivious to the world around them, they just live in their own little world, their own made-up world. I think it is one of their less cynical albums. |

Not a political band, but definitely a political song. He is telling the story of an egomaniac who has enjoyed popularity and fame his whole life and now he is in the political arena, seeking the presidency. His main motivation is the fame he desires, not necessarily what he has to offer. There is doubt in the speaker that he truly has an idea or agenda, but he wants the win, so he is pleading that he won't fuck over the country, if you just vote for him. |

In no way is Dee Dee rationalizing or sympathizing with Germans here. He is slamming on how they perpetrated evil as revenge for perceived slights in their mind. Remember Bonzo later, Dee Dee and Joey were livid with Reagan's take that Germans were victims |

It is my favorite song on the album. I think you hit the main themes. It is about hardship, depression, alcoholism, etc.. He chronicles a lot of pain but does kind of qualify his remarks by bringing up hardship other cultures have to face and then by finally saying that with time, some the hardship becomes easier to deal with. It is a sad song for sure, but not one with a totally bleak outlook. |
