| I cried when I first heard this song after listening to the whole album. It's probably my favourite Deerhoof song, so beautiful and emotional! Especially at Greg's part, his quiet singing really touches me for some reason. | |

| I added Greg's quiet verse, which unfortunately isn't in the booklet. I can't tell whether he says "The Milk Man is funny" or the "The Milk Man is cunning". The second one seems to make more sense but it sounds more like "funny" to me. | |

Greg said that the album was deep down intended for children. It's a concept album with a fairy tale based on the character on the cover, by their friend Ken Kagami. It's a very dark fairy tale, like the Grimm Brothers or something. |

I grew up with Bible stories and it didn't take any time at all for me to realize the theme of Adam and Eve throughout the album, and the clear references to the story in this song. "I said God In the trees it's lovely But it's lonely With a bone He will try to clone me Make a mother There will be another me" Adam was the only human and he was lonely, so God took Adam's rib and made a woman for him so he could continue the human race. "Eaten fruit birthday suit decoded" When Adam and Eve both ate the fruit they "realized" that they were naked and were ashamed of themselves. I also noticed that the insert says "(Dedicated to Encephalartos Woodii)", which I googled and found out that is a super rare tree. Cool stuff. And in "L'amour Stories" there's "What's that core on the floor? What the devil was that for?" |
