I completely agree. The last two sentences of your comment brought tears to my eyes: "The last line in the first verse “Do you have to make me feel like there’s nothing left of me?” is a rhetorical question and emphasizes how little you can feel when people break you down until you literally feel like you are out of willpower. It’s an awful feeling and no one deserves to understand that pain" I think its what everyone feels at some point in their life. It's what makes this song so heart-wrenching and relatable. |

In my opinion: The song is about a relationship ending in a bad place. -In the beginning: You can see that he's hurting. Everything he sees now, reminds him of the breakup. Everything he sees reminds him of her. Time passes and he wishes he knew HOW to get over her. He wishes he knew how to leave it all behind. She did and now all that's left for him are the memories, the shadows. He knows he needs to get away from the memories. He needs to leave and he needs to get out of her shadows. It's not that easy for him though. He feels that he can't leave because she was all he ever knew. He doesn't know HOW to leave it all behind and he desperately wishes he did. He knows that he needs to start over. He knows he needs to get away and leave it all behind. -By the end of the song: He doesn't want to live his life this way any longer. He no longer wants to compare everything to her. She'd moved on so easily and he wishes he could do the same. |
