Pink Floyd – High Hopes Lyrics 4 years ago
Pink Floyd’s last song, with its tolling bell a fitting epitaph for the band from Cambridge and reflective on life’s successes and disappointments, as well as the band’s. Appropriately then a reference in https://twitter.com/EpitaphDaily with a link to the wonderful official video. Isn’t the enormous cast of that figure at the end of the video Syd Barrett? I believe this is suggesting the band were more creative before he left and fame overtook the band, ‘times took their dreams away and myriad small creatures tried to tie them to the ground to a life consumed by slow decay’

@[Paradox:39777] I don’t believe Waters was taking a poke at Gilmour when saying how much he missed Syd Barratt. The band loved Syd, hence ‘Wish you were here’, and the High Hopes video climaxing with that enormous cast of Syd being borne across the landscape outside Cambridge ????

Grateful Dead – Black Peter Lyrics 12 years ago
There’s a fine version of this song on Dozin' At The Knick. Garcia is in fine voice and plays delicious guitar having survived serious illness as a result of his drug addiction, yet with only 5 years left to live perhaps contemplating his lyric from the Working Man’s Dead album in 1969 .. “One more day
I find myself alive
tomorrow
maybe go
beneath the ground”
and
“Just want to have
a little peace to die”
