I love this song to bits!
It's one of my favourite Kinks songs, too.
And I'm not even British :)

The Kinks – Victoria Lyrics 12 years ago
It is not sarcasm. Sarcasm is always personal, always jeering, and always intended to wound.
It's irony (saying one thing and meaning another) and it's satire (blending wit and humour with a critical attitude toward human activities and institutions).
Most of Ray Davies' lyrics use irony and satire.
But he still values a lot of the English traditions.

The Kinks – David Watts Lyrics 12 years ago
I think that "he is so gay" should be taken literally. Carefree, happy. That was the primary meaning of the word. Besides, it says "He is so gay" --- so happy, so carefree.

The Kinks – Uncle Son Lyrics 12 years ago
The small group of people is not so small as you might think. But I get your point. The Kinks (Ray's lyrics) are beyond what most people can appreciate. So they never get our little secret :)

The Kinks – Alcohol Lyrics 12 years ago
Great song; with Dave singing the chorus it's even better than it would have been if only Ray were singing it.

The Kinks – Holiday Lyrics 12 years ago
Lookin' in the sky, for a gap in the clouds,
Sometimes I think that sun ain't never coming out!
