The Alan Parsons Project – Old And Wise Lyrics 12 years ago
The main theme is reconciliation/forgiveness. As he is slipping away he wants those around him to let go of their ill feelings towards each other and not take unresolved to their graves.
(You follow where I go)

He has forgiven them
(Bitter words mean little to me...
Autumn Winds will blow right through me)
(Heavy words that tossed and blew me...
Like Autumn winds that will blow right through me)
(When they asked me if I knew you...
I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine)

He does hope they can forgive him.
(When they ask you if you knew me...
Remember that You were a friend of mine)

The tone of the song is remorseful..... wishing he would have resolved this sooner.

The Alan Parsons Project – A Dream Within a Dream Lyrics 12 years ago
To all: This song IS an instrumental . The spoken words you hear by Orson Wells were originally commissioned for this work but were not received in time for the production. Parson/Woolfson kept them, and in 1987 when they remastered "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" for its Compact Disk(CD) release they included them.(yes there was a time before mp3's and CD's)

The Alan Parsons Project – The Cask Of Amontillado Lyrics 12 years ago
I first came across "Tales" when a family member brought me an 8-track tape that had broken and asked if i could splice it back together. In short it was an easy fix...broke right at the track switching foil strip. I needed to listen to the tape to make sure that it tracked correctly. WOW, this will become one of my favorite albums.

"The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge."
The first line of this short story sets it up so well as does the opening line of the song.
"By the last breath of the four winds that blow
I'll have revenge upon Fortunato"
The story teller approaches his pompous foe and plays on biggest weakness, his pride. This weakness, will result in his demise.

(Spare me my life only name your reward)
Part of you dies each brick I lay
(Bring back some light in the name of the Lord)
You'll feel your mind slipping away
In pace requiescat, Fortunato!

Joe Walsh – I Like Big Tits Lyrics 12 years ago
It has always seemed like a song about a lost love or feelings of love never acted upon.
JK. Not one of Joe's deepest songs. I would be willing to guess the meaning is hidden in plain sight.

Joe Walsh – County Fair Lyrics 12 years ago
This dreamlike song referring to a fair could be vague memories of the relationship or maybe a relationship never realized. Something unfinished....and may never be. It has always seemed like a song about a lost love or feelings of love never acted upon. A friendship, yet the story teller had wanted to move into something deeper, but the desires of his heart were not the same as hers....the puzzle found but not complete.
