Macklemore – Same Love Lyrics 10 years ago
I want to start this off by saying that I'm a Christian. Yes, I support gay marriage/relationships. There are a lot of religious extremists out there who ruin the whole religious image for everyone. People who aren't religious tend to think we are all just wacko crazy. That's also something that needs to change.

Really, all problems, whether it be in regards to sex preference, religion, gun rights, race, etc... People just need to be understanding. I'm not going to tell a woman that she can't love another women, that her love isn't real, because I would never want someone to tell ME (a female) that my love for my fiance (a male) isn't genuine or correct. I would never tell someone to not own a gun, because I wouldn't want someone to tell me that I can't own a knife. I refuse to tell someone that they can't celebrate Kwanza or Hanuka, because I don't want someone to tell me that I can't celebrate Christmas.

It's really not anyone else's business what other people do. What right does anyone have to judge someone else? Maybe if more people judged themselves, and kept their noses out of other people's lives, we wouldn't have so many problems like this song describes.

When it says "A world so hateful, some would rather die than be who we are", that applies to a lot of situations. I knew two people who committed suicide while I was in high school. One was gay. He had kept it a secret from everyone, until he walked into the school holding hands with his boyfriend. Between the students, teachers, and even his damn PARENTS, he lasted almost a year. He died in my Junior year. Now I know that teenagers are nasty, but the adults at least should have had more maturity and sensibility than that. The other boy was obese, and severely depressed because of it, and the teasing he received.

I hope that one day, songs like this won't be needed.

Macklemore – And We Danced Lyrics 10 years ago
I FEEL that this song is a sort of release. Like maybe he was a shy person growing up, and something happened to make him get over it. Now he doesn't care who's watching and he's going to live in the moment, no matter what people think of him. And when I say "live in the moment" I don't JUST mean that he'll do whatever he wants. I mean that he will enjoy his time having fun, and savor all the good moments... even if he won't remember what happens in the morning.

Macklemore – Irish Celebration Lyrics 10 years ago
Macklemore IS Ben Haggerty. This is a song about Irish roots, or St. Patrick's day, yes, but it's also about a way to express his pride in the country that he came from. It's not just Seattle that he loves, he's saying he loves Ireland too.

Macklemore – Contradiction Lyrics 10 years ago
Macklemore is so blunt in his honesty; so much so that you can't begrudge him his opinions. So he's sexist and prejudiced? I don't like that. I imagine a lot of people don't. But the fact that he's big enough to say that upfront means a lot. He's telling the world who he is, "music is an expression of self".
