The Cure – Doing the Unstuck Lyrics 12 years ago
I agree inkyblack, I believe the lyrics are of a positive and uplifting nature and not of a suicidal one. The beautiful thing about Robert's lyrics is how much he leaves to the listener for interpretation. Here are the parts of the song that make me think this is probably of a positive nature

"It's a perfect day for letting go
For setting fire to bridges
Boats
And other dreary worlds you know "

Robert Smith has been known to be quite rebellious (especially in his earlier years) and in his earlier life enjoyed his stay in the punk scene and consequently, I believe that shaped his idea of ultimate fun and excitement and that was in the burning and destruction of things (or atleast it being a metaphor for just having a good time).

"But it's much to late you say
For doing this now
We should have done it then
Well it just goes to show
How wrong you can be
And how you really should know
That it's never too late
To get up and go "

This is likely about a woman that does not want to fix the relationship and sees it too far past repair, and he wants to fix it and forget about the past and just look forward with blissful optimism

"It's a perfect day for kiss and swell
For rip-zipping button-popping kiss and well"

Haha, this part I'm pretty sure is about sex.. it's perfect day for kiss and swell (your lips or whatever you are kissing is swelling its been kissed to much and rip-zipping button-popping kiss and well (ripping clothes, unzipping zippers popping off buttons and well.. well sex)

"There's loads of other stuff can make you yell
Let's get happy!
It's a perfect day for doing the unstuck
For dancing like you can't hear the beat
And you don't give a further thought
To things like feet
Let's get happy! "

There is loads of other stuff that can make you yell (like not just sex, but other thrills in this life). For dancing like you can't hear the beat
And you don't give a further thought
To things like feet (I love how this is worded, basically I think hes saying have fun and don't worry about having to do things the right way, and don't give another thought to things like feet (because people tend to look down at their feet or other peoples feet alot when they are sad)

"Kick out the gloom
Kick out the blues
Tear out the pages with all the bad news
Pull down the mirrors and pull down the walls
Tear up the stairs and tear up the floors
Oh just burn down the house!
Burn down the street!
Turn everything red and the beat is complete
With the sound of your world
Going up in fire
It's a perfect day to throw back your head
And kiss it all goodbye "

Once again I feel this is that inner punk coming out with all the excitement about burning everything to the ground and not caring. The part about throwing back your head, I believe by this he means just being able let it all go and to just fall backwards (I imagine him falling backwards on a bed with a smile on his face) and just forget about all your worries.
