| Damien Rice – What If I'm Wrong Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Damien has written this song for the documentary 'When the dragon swallowed the sun' about the issues and conflicts in Tibet. He first wrote it in 'you' form to point at the suppressors over there and what they had done - he then realised, however, that he could not point at them without pointing at himself. For all that they had done, he had basically done as well. So even though initially the song was not about himself, it turned out that it could be interpreted like that anyway. I just love, love, love this song! It's so full of emotion and power, yet fragile. Love it. |

| Damien Rice – Accidental Babies Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| An accidental baby is a baby that was not planned. So basically, he means to ask her whether she is sure of her choice (the other guy) because at some point, it will be too late and she cannot change her mind anymore. That is, choose the singer instead of the guy she is with 'cause at that point, she will have a baby with the other guy (literally) or something else might have happened that made it impossible for her to choose the singer. :) | |
| Damien Rice – Under The Tongue Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I think he is lying to himself here. Or maybe trying to convince himself her love leaves him cold by telling himself that. I think 'she' has hurt him and now he has trouble getting over her. First he imagines it's her trying to come back to him ("What are you doing here, have you lost your way?") while he convinces her ('himself') that she means nothing. What am I doing here? Is it something I've done? If it's time for confession, Then bring out the nun. This is where he starts questioning his own love, but he does not want to confess yet ('first bring out the nun'). Then there's a lot he doesn't know and he just realised that he has forgotten to let go of her love. So what I think is that basically, he loves her, she hurts/leaves him, he convinces himself he does not love her by telling himself (and her, in his head) that he doesn't. But then when thinking of it, he realises it's not really her but it's actually his love that still exists and that he has forgotten to let go of her. |

| Damien Rice – Uncomfortable Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Beautiful song! The first french part obviously indicates that Damien regrets things he's done in the past. She looks at him, recognises his look whil he is thinking back about that place from the past, and he says that he now knows and regrets it all. She then tries to comfort him (Vouloir ma main = choose my hand; Tu l'as perdue au moins cent fois = you have lost her at least a hundred times). He is unsure about that because he's afraid he'll hurt her too (It's just like me to let you down, to walk away, to fool around. Ikt's just like you to cry like this into the cracks). Or, at least that's my interpretation! :) |
