I think he's talking about how dark he is inside. He's all alone, his toughts are mostly dark. He's looking for parties because he thinks they'll make him happy, so he can finally stop thinking this dark, but he just can't turn off his mind even while high, or drunk. You can see that in the music video, everything slows down around him, everybody's happy, he's the only one who can't turn himself off, he just keeps thinking about the loneliness and darkness he feels inside. In the beginning of the song, he's trying to persuade himself that he'll reach happiness if he continues living like this. In the second verse, the party is still going on, but he realises that this night didn't work out well. (again) He's still thinking about the darkness he has in his life, all the time spent with being self-destructive didn't help a little bit. In the end he regrets doing this, of course.... |
