| Blaqk Audio – Again, Again, and Again Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I think that is the best comment - It is about sleepy with a groupie and the more he does it the less guilt he feels...it is so clear I cannot believe no one else saw it. I think people try to read too much into these songs. The line about liking it dark and low, is stating that she will do things that his wife/gf won't do and that is why he keeps going back even though it is wrong. | |
| Foster the People – Coming of Age Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Diana, I think you have the best interpretation. Not ever song is about a relationship (at least not a romantic one). I think what Mark Foster is trying to say that when you start growing up you realize that you actions are not always reflective of your best intentions as so well put in the lines... I'm always moving forward and not looking back But I tend to leave a trail of dead, while I'm moving ahead So I'm stepping away 'Cause I got nothing to say This song is catchy and the lyrics make me think back to days when I was younger (early 30's) but realized mortality is a real thing. The lines about being a ship lost at sea where the stars are hidden by fears make me relate to my relationship with parents, my children and my ex. I know I want to the best person for them but sometimes pride, selfishness and my enemies (enemies being the person we wish we weren't) sometimes just get in the way. In short, I think Mark is just trying to say, that even as hard as we try to grow up we all have shortcomings that get in our way. |

| Silversun Pickups – Common Reactor Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Not every song is about a relationship. Sometimes ppl sing about something else - this song is about fighting for something you believe in, in a world that is overrun by comformity. | |
| Better Than Ezra – Desperately Wanting Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Have to agree with NothingIs...read the line "oh the letters have dropped off, though they say you got them all.." the person is either in jail or a mental health ward. He is asking the friend that he will be there for them if they ever care to repair the relationship. More so, I have always been here for you, please do not group me in with the ppl who have label you as an addict. | |
| Mr. Bungle – The Air-Conditioned Nightmare Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Agreeing with Hugh M. It is based off the book by Henry Miller....here is something from the book.... 1) It was an urgent need because, unlike most prodigal sons, I was returning not with the intention of remaining in the bosom of the family but of wandering forth again, perhaps never to return. I wanted to have a last look at my country and leave it with a good taste in my mouth. 2) It is not a world I want to live in. It is a world suited for monomaniacs obsessed with the idea of progress — but a false progress, a progress which stinks. It is a world cluttered with useless objects which men and women, in order to be exploited and degraded, are taught to regard as useful. The dreamer whose dreams are non-utilitarian has no place in this world. Whatever does not lend itself to being bought and sold, whether in the realm of things, ideas, principles, dreams or hopes, is debarred. Mike was an English major at Hunboldt State University before joining FNM. He is much more of a thinker than people give him credit. He is the utilimate frontman because he lets the delivery, the prose and the execution of his vocals take the front seat while he places his ego behind the music and lyrics. |

| The Cure – Prayers for Rain Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think the song is about an addiction, whether it be drugs, love or something else. It tells simple how the addiction is slowly taking away life and "the prayers for rain" would be the something that can cleanse him. Pretty simple I know, but sometimes ppl tend to over think things. Water in poetry as well as in film is a sign of cleansing. | |
| Faith No More – Star A.D. Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| That is from a Def Leppard song in the early 80's. | |
| Faith No More – Zombie Eaters Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I ahave to agree with Kollapse77...when both my children were babies this song rang true. Even as tweens they are still like this. I think he/she hit it on the head...it is a straight forward song. | |
| The Lemonheads – It's A Shame About Ray Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Sorry The Lemon Heads started playing gigs in the early 80's. Not every band was influenced by Nirvana (one of the most overrated bands ever). Plus the best thing about Nirvana was the drummer and bassist. God rest in peace to Kurt Cobain but he even joked about playing 3 chords. | |
| Faith No More – Helpless Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
The song is about someone who realizes they are dead... A garden is it's own perfect world Where everything has a place Every leaf, every stone, every speck of dirt But where's my place? I even tried to get arrested today But everyone looked the other way I count the hours, and I count the days But for once I'm certain" Every leaf, every stone every speck of dirt - refers to a grave...the line about trying to get arrested signifies that the sould, person, ghost (pick one) wants to be noticed. In the end the person, ghost, soul (agian pick one) is torn between being at peace with being dead or being alone. "The air is warm I hear the wind and the trees I know I'm there, but I'll never be" I know I'm there, but I'll never be" - the person, soul, ghost knows his presence but also knows no one living can see him or feel his presence. Let me know what you think. FNM - best band ever, well maybe one notch behind The Clash :-) |
