I may be way off the target, but I interpret this as maybe she simply just can't figure out what to do with her life. Wanting to get up and go away to the country side, cuts down her belongings suggesting she's ready to go, but then changing her mind because she can't let go of the people she knows even if she claims not to care what they think. But she's still torn between staying and leaving, thus the grass is always greener. and maybe she's even trying to get him to go with her? ("She keeps on telling me i'm not made for this") I love this song I just wish I understood what the "blue paper" symbolizes. |

I think you're pretty much on target. The only things I translate differently is 1. the "everybodys looking at you like they want to..." part. I think it more means she's the popular girl (maybe gets passed around) so everybody is wanting her. and 2. the diamond rings thing I think has less to do with money and more to do with she's the girl he would marry and i feel like the fading off at that part kind of rings it in as a sudden realization that he would dedicate the rest of his life to loving her. The only thing I can't understand is what the heck does "Still in my head was the sick of my spine" mean? Is he saying he was spineless or that he was too proud? |
