I find it interesting reading everyone's comments. So different and unique...ones I'd never thought of. In my opinion, and many others who have researched the band and know it's history (not just "oh man, these guys rock!" because they sound good) - this song is about the band "falling apart" and then coming back together after everything negative that happened with Maynard and APC, and the band being on a very long break, they realized they were here to create music and to show people something new and different. The album Lateralus is completely different from their earlier work - it's after Maynard met Alex Grey (amazing artist, fyi) and became more at peace. Keep your third eye open, people. |

You know what I love about Tool's music? It can be interpreted in SO many ways! No one is wrong or right...Maynard likes it that way too. When I first heard this song, I believed it was about heroin. At the time, my ex boyfriend had a really bad problem with it, so it made sense to me. After going through a horrible, almost torturous breakup, plus many months of heartache and confusion after, I found new meaning in the song. I think that's the whole point too. Tool's music is meant to be seen through ALL eyes at different times of our lives. Keep your third eye open. |
