I don't think this is a strong song musically speaking, but i identify with the lyrics. Being in love grips your heart and drives you over the edge and makes you act irrationally at times especially if you fear it's being encroached upon or violated. I guess some people have never felt love, which might be fortunate, as it can really tear you apart if you feel like things are crumbling. "And nothin else can ever change your mind...": not another person or the appearance of circumstances;you are driven to persistently pursue the one who holds your affections...and sometimes that means sacrificing pieces of pride, anger, and even doubts. When it comes down to it, making things work is a choice. Few people realize that relinquishing these things or choosing love,it is ultimately a strength and not a weakness. |

I think the person is speaking from a place of abuse (particularly ritual abuse with religious overtones in this song) and betrayal and that their behaviours, though not understandable from the perspective of the detached outsider, have their rhyme and reason and they are not looking to be absolved by the said observers who have no clue or the time to find out, what's going on inside them. "Try walking in my shoes...You'll stumble in my footsteps..." I feel they are saying you wouldn't walk as true a step if put in the same scenario. |
