I had no clue this song was a cover. I'm going to have to find the original now. Anyway, this song is awesome, I had to find it after I heard it in that movie. I love how it sounds so eerie. I'm still trying to figure out what the lyrics mean though. I doubt there will be many other people looking at these lyrics but if anyone can give me an idea that'd be cool.
I also ended up using this song as background music in a movie I made for my filmmaking class.

I'd actually never even heard of these guys until today. I happened to catch them on the DriveThru Records stage at Warped Tour and I thought they rocked! They're really energetic live, and I was talking to their drummer afterwards and they seem really nice too. I couldn't really understand the lyrics while I was there since there was this screaming hardcore band playing on the stage next to them but these are awesome! |

Now I know if we write something offensive the post can be removed, but all I did was write my interpretation of the song. I find in a couple of her songs she sounds a bit like Sarah McLachlan, but that may just be me. I do agree that she does that whole "la la la" thing alot on her cd, but I don't have a problem with it. I love this song (and her other ones) anyway. This song is so true, everything is out of our control. |

Does anyone know where I can hear ithis song? I tried looking on a Kazaa and a bunch of others like it but I can't seem to find it. These lyrics rock I wanna hear them with the music!
Anyway, Finch has such good lyrics! All their songs rock. Well, since this site is called 'Songmeanings': my interpretation of "Take these eyes and bury me. So that I can't see your face And when you die, I can't cry." is that he would cry if she died, because he still cares for her, even after she hurt him. That's why he's asking someone to "take these eyes", because if he didn't have eyes (figureatively speaking of course) then he wouldn't be able to cry if she died. And he's wishing he wouldn't when she died, because that proves to him that he still cares for her. |

Er, I think maybe I should've clarified what I meant by "punk rock" up there. I meant more her style, not her music. I know her songs aren't very punk at all. I haven't heard many of them yet, but so far this is the most punk sounding one... and it could make Blink-182 sound almost like hardcore. But I mean, how many mainstream girl singers do you see wearing baggy pants and skateboarding in their videos? I'd take it over a Britney video any day of the week

Wow, it's pretty sad how people think they're cool by coming onto a message board and leaving idiotic comments. I just wanna know what they were trying to accomplish by coming onto a thread where everyone is raving about how wonderful the song is, to bash it. You think you can make us feel bad about liking it? Please, look at the amount of posts from people who like it compared to people who don't. Who's got more? Yeah, that's what I thought....
Anyway, to get off this tangent, I first heard this song about 2 or 3 months ago, but I still have to listen to it everyday. It's beautiful, there aren't any other words to describe it. |

This song definitely isn't her best, but it still rocks!! I'm so glad that there's finally a punk rock girl out there. Her lyrics on all her songs are great, definitely not you're typical pop lyrics. Her stuff is real, and she's not afraid to be who she is, I love it.
By the way, PunkAcidPunk, I heard that her CD is coming out June 4th. |

I more or less agree with how AlphaE interprets this song. I see it as a relationship that fell apart even though he didn't want it to. "Your hands didn't move, well neither did mine" I think that it means that neither of the people in the relationship did anything to fix what was going wrong, even though they could have, "both of us left without words, both of us lost in this world" meaning that they sort of just drifted apart without really explaining why, and now he wants things to be the way they used to be "I'd give you my life, if you gave me yours somehow". "New Years will bring me to you" I think that means that he's hoping in the new year they can start over, and fix what they had.
I don't know if it's kinda wacked, but that's how I understood it. It's an amazing song in any case though. |

I don't listen to many harder bands like this but I started listening to their cd because my friend had it and I loved it. I took this song as being about being in a relationship that's falling apart, and he'd do anything to keep it from ending "I'd shed my skin for you", but he knows that the end is inevitable "but I can't live like this". It reminds me of a situation I was in last summer. Such an amazing song. |

I bought Drive-Thru Records' "Welcome To The Family" the other day,and since then I've listened to this song over and over. I actually cried the first time I heard it and it still gets me teary-eyed (which is saying alot because I've been dubbed Queen of the heartless b****es by most that know me). It's so moving and emotional, you feel like you're seeing the entire relationship through his eyes. It's beautifully written and composed, it's the only song I can listen to without the piano part driving me nuts... it's actually my favorite part in this song. This song breaks your heart when you listen to it. Definitely the best song I've ever heard. |

This is definitely my favourite song by Finch. It's so powerful. I actually bought Drive-Thru Record's "Welcome To The Family" just because this song was on it! I'm pretty upset that it's not on their cd though, I checked the track listing on their website and it wasn't listed... I don't know if it's going to be a bonus track or something, but I'm hoping it is. |
