to elaborate on my last comment (the one directly below this if you are looking at it sorted as "most recent" - same username obviously (iamDMT): "pears and peaches and dr. hippo" could be hookers at some expensive bar with another rich/fat/self-inflated type person (guessing they stopped off in a city considering the mention of "concrete" and "trash cars garbage rails" with a mention of a "mayor" - seems like a city with a lot of train transportation). the conductor asking "are you in today?" helping people get on and settle on the train. sending "love and happiness" because he's the only blue collar worker there, not like the super rich surrounding them. "just fearing sleeping in the box" - boxCAR. the compartment you sleep in when taking a long train trip. the last thing you want while tripping on shrooms is to feel very confined. "will there be a better place?", two ways i interpret this: 1) they are on a train ride to someplace else. will it be better than where they were last? will the people suck as much? will there be as much crime? (jail is mentioned) 2) spiritually, if they are tripping, they may ask themselves (regarding life in general), will there (ever) be a better place (than here)? can i achieve it while tripping? do i have to wait until i die? will i see what death is like? (you ask yourself these questions when you trip...) **snippet from previous comment: "has anyone commenting ever taken psilocybin mushrooms? the last part-- "I found gold?gold got it got it? Pears and peaches and Doctor Hippo Met for a drink in those marshmallow clouds Shout at pavement that's sprouting up turnips Who are shouting right back, “We don't need your lectures” " seems CLEARLY like a shroom trip to me. "the caps, the colors" also makes me think of shrooms. could be about taking a train ride with a bunch of rich people and everyone is portrayed to them (tripping) as an elephant because they are so self-inflated. then they get off the train and start shouting at the concrete..." again, just my own interpretation. but i feel (for those who have experienced tripping on shrooms, at least) that it is fairly obvious... |

| i know this comment is YEARS old, but THANK YOU! somebody else gets it! it's SO obvious to me. people are trying to find hidden meanings... maybe they've just never done shrooms. | |

| you get negative feedback and you're almost definitely more on point than just about anyone else who's commented. people on here are stupid. | |

| i know this comment is 6 years old but i agree with you, based on the last part alone. personally i think it's just about them tripping on shrooms. the last part sounds like a trip on shrooms if i've ever had one (and i've had plenty). elephants could be the people on the train (self-inflated rich people around them) then they get off the train and i'm guessing they're in a city if they're shouting at concrete, "pears and peaches and dr hippo" could be more rich self-inflated people having drinks on the patio of an expensive restaurant. having ingested psilocybin mushrooms on several occasions in many places, i see my interpretation as much more plausible than "accidental messiah"'s. | |

has anyone commenting ever taken psilocybin mushrooms? the last part "I found gold?gold got it got it? Pears and peaches and Doctor Hippo Met for a drink in those marshmallow clouds Shout at pavement that's sprouting up turnips Who are shouting right back, “We don't need your lectures” " seems CLEARLY like a shroom trip to me. "the caps the colors" also makes me think of shrooms. could be about taking a train ride with a bunch of rich people and everyone is portrayed to them (tripping) as an elephant because they are so self-inflated. then they get off the train and start shouting at the concrete... just a very loose (and slightly educated, based on ingesting the drug) interpretation of the song. either way, i love it. |
