| Kelly Clarkson – Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) Lyrics

This song is basically telling you that you don't need another person to make you happy - you need to be happy with yourself first before you can share your happiness with another.
Also, this song teaches and preaches the difference between being 'alone' and being 'lonely'. You can be alone without being lonely! :) |

Trying to think outside of the box here and steering away from the image of a poor and desperate girl, I think this song is more about the woman's feelings of being replaced by somebody she considers a downgrade from who she is. She also wants to keep cool about it by masking her threats toward the replacement (and not making it public) in hopes of keeping her place (ex: a queen vs. a mistress, or girlfriend vs. rebound) instead of downgrading herself (ex: girl fight, girl drama, or anything that turns a man off).

To make this comment Twilight-free, I believe this song--based on my interpretation--is about a person having feelings for somebody she or he cannot have. I can picture a girl being friends with a guy and having feelings for him and he does not know it because he's in love with somebody else. The girl may be tempted to cling toward him and test their boundaries to see where it leads or stay on the brink of their friendship and fight down her feelings that are 'pushing' and 'pulling' her to either stay behind or cross the friendship line. |

| The All-American Rejects – Dirty Little Secret Lyrics

I loved this song when it first came out! Like everyone else, I thought of this song as a song for people who have secrets (not necessarily dark secrets) that they keep for themselves. Like, how I have an account for this website which I frequent to write and read song interpretations and none of my friends know about this; this site is my dirty little secret!
However! About three months ago, a friend of mine was struggling to hold onto her relationship with her guy. I helped them to work things out but eventually got to know him more. As a result, we became good friends and then it came to a point where he was really comfortable with me---telling me all of the secrets his girlfriend (and nobody) doesn't even know about. Ideally, I was his secret keeper.
One night, we accidentally kissed. We instantly connected and now, he's my dirty little secret. We are just friends, but no one really knows how close we really are with each other, and I like it just that way.
I guess this song pretty much suits the situation I'm in; I'm keeping our 'special friendship' a secret. |

| Linkin Park – Castle Of Glass Lyrics

Easily one of Linkin Park's best songs of all time. And of course, this song like most of their songs, is open to interpretation. While many of you agree this song is pretty much centralized on the war with Iraq, I also agree that this song is also intended for anyone who is struggling to deal with the pain they're feeling inside (whether they're battling a war physically or battling a personal war emotionally).
For people like me, this song hits home on a personal level. I've been battling depression for a long time and this song defines what depression is like for me and what I would want to achieve in the end after I overcome it. Thank you Linkin Park. You guys rock. |
