It is not Verona, it is Venona. The only Venona that I know about is the project to collect Soviet spy data during World War II. The project was so secretive that even the president was not informed about it. It is been charged that many important American government figures were actually working for Joseph Stalin. Many historians dispute the findings, but taken together with the transcripts of the hearings that were undertaken after the war, and the archives of the Soviets themselves, they are pretty damning. The lyrics seem to point to a conspiracy of that sort. |
