This song is a sequel to "Point and Click." The first song was the text of a note left behind by a parent who was preparing to go out on a murder spree. This song takes place after the son has followed in the parent's footsteps and is preparing to elude capture or escape from prison (probably the latter). The voice of the parent in this song is essentially an inner voice that the son uses to get him through his rather troubled path. Think Norman Bates. Speaking of Norman Bates, "all cons love their moms" is the first indication we've had of the parent's gender. I had always assumed that "Point and Click" was from the point of view of a father, but that little clue hints that this is not the case. |
