| Jefferson Airplane – Never Argue with a German If You're Tired of European Song Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
The lyrics is based on a real story: Grace Slick was in Germany in 1971, when she suffered a car accident. "mine auto fairt ser schnell aber ess rast gegen mawen" it means "Mein Auto fährt sehr schnell aber es rasst gegen Mauern", in English "my car is very fast but is hits against the wall'. but the rest doesn't make any sense, just a couple of german sounding words. |

| Belle & Sebastian – Heaven in the Afternoon Lyrics | 12 years ago |

It's a song about 60s artist, model, actress Edie Sedgwick, who lived a short life of 28 years. '“I wrote that song and I can’t quite remember why I asked Sarah to sing it,” says Murdoch. “But it’s somewhat inspired by the Edie Sedgwick biography. She’d gone through such a bad mental state. The only stuff she could take in were baby stories like Winnie the Pooh. So I wrote that one for Edie and the condition she was in." The lines which directly reflects her lifestyle are 'Supersonic sight, practiced in thickest light 9.30, hello night-time I'll never sleep again' It refers to her figure and pictures made of her, the second line is about her partying lifestyle...the line 'I take a little overdose" is about her addiction to speed. |

| George Harrison – Awaiting on You All Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I generally agree with you, but only with the first verse of the song. The song was written in 1970 when Lennon still lived in the UK, and his visa problems appeared first from the time when he moved the US later. | |
| Pink Floyd – Grantchester Meadows Lyrics | 12 years ago |

The song's atmosphere perfectly captures Grantchester Meadow's 'deatchly silence that lay all around'. Even the birds sing in the same way there as... Beautiful song and Grantchester Meadows is a beautiful peaceful place. |

| Primal Scream – Velocity Girl Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song was written about 60s socialite, model and actress, Andy Warhol's 'Superstar' Edie Sedgwick. 'With vodka in her veins Peen playing with a spike' Edie was always holding a drink and a cigarrette in her hands, and she was addicted to speed, these lines refer to her lifestyle. 'Splendour in silver dress' She had silver hair and she often wore silver dresses. (see picure: http://www.xojane.com/files/sites/default/files/imagecache/article_full_width/field_image_attachments/article/tumblrlxmdc4lt291qdnypy.png) 'The world was hers again It fell apart again' It may mean her very short life, where she once one of the most famous socialites in New York, the Girl of the Year in 1965, but before her golden years she suffered incredibly due to her family and other reasons. After the short period of being part of Warhol's 'Factory', her 'world fell apart again'. 'I don't need anyone to hurt me No, not anyone at all `Cause my so-called friends have left me' I think it is about her complicated relationship with Warhol. Edie gace almost all of her money for Warhol to support his career, but after they made several underground movies together, Warhol didn't give her any money from the movies after they were released. Warhol then ignored Sedgwick and Edie decided to leave the Factory, 'cause my so-called friends have left me' may refer to this. (Though it was her who left him and not he left her). Excellent music and lyrics from the early period of Primal Scream. |
