| I completely agree with this being a struggle with religion. I think the "I see God in birds and Satan in long words" line is especially poignant because I think it's really a condemnation of how religious people will find God in the most trivial of things (crucifix jet trails, angels in clouds, Jesus on toats, etc) and they see Satan in things that they are uncomfortable with (long words, science, education). | |

I like to think of that line as showing how people mistakenly see God in the trivial, like people seeing "angels" in clouds and finding Satan in "long words" or education, things that people don't generally like or understand. It's more of a condemnation, to me. Then again, that's just my take on it. |
