Regina Spektor – Chemo Limo Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is pretty clearly about a woman who battles cancer and doesn't have enough money to afford Chemo. However, there are multiple interpretations of this song.
I think the part that differs most, is when she talks about calling the limousine company. Here's how I see it.
"When I woke up
My kids were being quiet
I knew it was a dream right away
I called the limousine company"
She's dying and the kids are there and they're being quiet because they're upset.
a little bit later, she says

"the limousine pulled in. We piled in."
That's her getting ready to die. And there's a chance that the "limousine" could actually be an ambulance

"The doctor asked which way we were headed
I said sir, lets just go west and he listened obediently."
The doctor is asking what she wants to do. (which supports the idea of the ambulance.) They could try to save her life and she says let's just go west. I think west is symbolic because the sun sets in the west implying that she is requesting to die.

"Sophie only wants to listen to radio BBC
Michael sat on my knees and whispered to me
All about the meanies
Jacqueline was being such a big girl
With her cup of tea looking out of the window"
This kind of shows how the kids are trying to deal with the death of their mother. They're clearly upset.

"And Barbara
She looks just like my mom
Oh my god, Barbara
She looks so much like my mom"
I have always seen this as, Barbara now has cancer seeing as cancer is able to be passed down through genetics and they are saying she looks just like my mom so that would be Barbara's grandmother.

Regina Spektor – How Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song! Regina Spektor is SOOO amazing I love her work!
This song is beautiful. I really believe that it's about death. It sounds to me like someone's lover died.
"I guess you know by now
That we will meet again somehow" / this sounds like the person who's lover died is thinking about how one day, they too will die and meet up with their lover once again.
"Time can come and take away the pain
But I just want my memories to remain
To hear your voice
To see your face
There's not one moment I'd erase
You are a guest here now" / This sounds like how people get over death with time but this person doesn't think they will ever get over the pain of losing their loved one. And saying "you are a guest here now" sounds like that person no longer lives on earth. They were just a guest but they have left.

Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics 12 years ago
I think this song is talking about how people can go around most of their days just not believing in God. They act as if God is nothing to them. Then in a crisis they beg for God to help them and get them out. That's not how it works. Take the Boston Marathon bombing for an example <3 there were people who are total atheists but they would post on Facebook pray for Boston. Then when all is better they don't give a rats hat about God.

Regina Spektor – Genius Next Door Lyrics 12 years ago
I love this song. Regina is the best. This one in particular really stands out to me because she starts by talking about the lake and then tells a story about it that has happened earlier. I believe that the story is talking about this kid who's smarter than he appears to the "local kids." The other kids don't hang out with him they think he's a fool. The genius next door has a job at a restaurant as a bust boy; not helping the fact that the other kids think he's not smart. When in reality he IS very smart. He hears them calling him a fool and chances are, things aren't different at home. These names go to his head. One day he decides to commit suicide at the local lake.
The lake is "enchanted" because he killed himself there. "But I swear that I could hear the laughter" the kids making fun of the genius next door.
"If you just hold in your breath til you come back up in full" Regina is motivating the kid. Saying it doesn't have to be like this.
"hold in your breath til you thought it through, you fool" again it's her saying it doesn't have to end this way and the kids saying you fool.
"in the morning the film crew start arriving." a news cast shows up to talk about what happened.
"Atheists were praying full of sarcasm" This line confused me for some time. I think it could be a reference to Regina's song laughing with which is basically how people can joke about God but when they're in need of help they begin praying as if they have believed all their life. But these people don't seem to like the genius next door so they couldn't even pretend that their prayers were sincere.
"And the genius next door was sleeping. Dreaming that the antidote is orgasm" He's dead at this point and whether his soul is in heaven or hell he is still hurt from the people on Earth. The "dreaming that the antidote is orgasm" line is saying that he wants a climactic thing to happen. He wants the people on Earth to miss him and he thinks maybe that will heal his wounds from those who hurt him.

truly an amazing song.
