| Fiction Family – War in My Blood Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
This is one of my favorite songs. "I've got a girl, she tastes like rain on my tongue She's got the moon in her hips And her eyes burn up like the sun When I'm gone from my girl When I leave her alone There ain't nothing that I'm running from" --This verse is setting up the story, describing how amazing this girl is and what she means to him. "There's war in my blood I've still got wars to be won" --He has some hate and desire to fight from a previous relationship and he needs to go rid himself of the anger before he can come back to his girl. "My baby's soft and sweet Somewhere between a flower and a gun And where my girl is now, some day that's where I wanna be from" --The girl he wants can be soft or hard and someday he wants to be by her side, once he has worked out he war from his blood. "Love is a dollar that's already spent Love is a song that we sung There's war in my blood Love ain't the tune in my lungs" --He has already put all of his money/feelings into love with this girl and he loves this girl with everything he has, but he has a difficult time showing it, because of the hate in his heart, which he unfortunately displays while talking to her. "So here's my consolation An opponent is enough It takes two to go to war And only one to fall in love" --Despite his attempts to make her happy he continues to be angry. His girl has a strong side and she stands up to him. I had a girl, I know precisely what made her run Her skin was like the sky It made my heart beat itself like a drum --He knows exactly what it was that tore them apart, the angry deep inside of him. "War in his blood." I long for my girl and we meet in my dreams I tell her she'll always be my only one There's war in my blood There ain't a thing love could have done --No matter how much he loves this girl there was nothing the love could have done to overcome his hate. There's war in my blood There's war in my blood There's war in my blood -- Repeating the war in his blood, hoping that by making it known to himself and with time he can someday overcome it and return to his love. Ultimately it boils down to having a deep angry and depression inside of you that causes you to push away the person you love the most. The pain and anger tears you and your love apart and you then set out to rid yourself of the anger so that someday you can return to your love. Fantastic song. |

| fun. – Out on the Town Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I think it's about missing someone. Wishing you hadn't made some mistakes that you made that might've caused them to leave you or to stray away from you. Your friends all take the girls side in things and everyone can see you're hurt by it all, including your mom. The guy desperately wants to be back around his girl again, he tried to just leave but now he's at her window throwing stones to get her attention... or this could be taken metaphorically and he is just trying not to talk to her but he can't help but say something, anything that comes to mind. He thinks that if he could just be a little bit more clever and make her laugh she might come back to him. Just my interpretation. |

| Jake Bugg – Someplace Lyrics | 12 years ago |

To me this song is about missing someone you love and hoping to one day see them again. He saw through his lovers lies and called her out on it so she ran to someone else. Someone who doesn't know about her flaws. He's begging that even though he saw all of these things he still loves her and doesn't want her to go. "I want to go someplace and find you there." This is the most significant line for me. He just wants to see her again, no matter what happened in the past. He is hoping that someday he can wander somewhere, and there he will find her, waiting for him. Everything in the past forgotten. |

| Ben Howard – To Be Alone Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Correct lyrics: To be alone... I don’t need no body, Oh I, I don’t need no body, Oh I don’t need no body to be alone, to be alone. And in the darkness a shallow poison it has grown, I bite my tongue there’s a fever I will not let it show. I don’t need no body, Oh I, I don’t need no body, Oh I don’t need no body to be alone, to be alone. And in the darkness a shallow poison it has grown, I bite my tongue there’s a fever I will not let it show. And in the darkness a shallow poison it has grown, I bite my tongue there’s a fever I will not let it show. I don’t need no body, Oh I, I don’t need no body, Oh I don’t need no body to be alone, to be alone To be alone... |

| Over the Rhine – Born Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think this song is about someone who was hurt in the past and now is trying to overcome their issues and learn to love pure and laugh without fear once again. The person wants to give it their best shot with whoever the "you" is in the song. No matter what ghosts are haunting the other person from their past they are willing to look past it as best they can if they can agree the same. Amazing song. | |
| Dawes – Just Beneath The Surface (Reprise) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I get the feeling this is about what part of a person you are going to keep with you in your heart after a breakup or after they are gone. "Just beneath the surface of your skin (in your heart). Saying you are going to keep that part of them, the one you cherish most, the one without any of the imperfections. | |
| Guster – Amsterdam Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Sounds to me like it's about a breakup. The guy has so many thoughts that he wants to get through to the girl "Write you a letter, write you a book..." but she's too high to even care about what he has to say. So he wants to write it down so she can read it when she comes down. "Lost in amsterdam, Way up on your cloud" makes me think she's been getting stoned a lot. I think the girl started getting high in order to deal with everything and escape but now she is hooked and he's wondering if she's lost and never coming back. He is finally tired of it all and ready to move on. |
