Bush – Glycerine Lyrics 19 years ago
wow, i was so surprised to come here and see all these explanations of this song that have nothing to do with heroin. it never occurred to me that this song could be about anything other than heroin, though i guess it makes sense since love is often like a drug. the skin sinking in is like injecting, the bruises can come from abuse, strawberry fields are track lines (in addition to the obvious beatles reference, and we all know about their drug use!). everything going white and gray and the "days go by" (ie time passing at an unusual pace) refer to the experience of being high. and the "beautiful taste" is the cinnamony/sugary taste that is often associated with heroin.

Lifehouse – Simon Lyrics 23 years ago
First off, those of you who keep arguing about what this song's about and putting each other down are doing exactly what the aggressors did to the speaker in the song. Whether or not the song is about Simon in the Bible or Jason's friend is really not a huge issue. The song is amazing regardless. But I'm pretty sure that all of you are right. Jason wrote the song about his friend after speaking to him, and then entitled the song "Simon" because he was comparing his friend's situation to that of Simon in the bible.

Five for Fighting – Easy Tonight Lyrics 23 years ago
this song IS about suicide, but according to john, the girl in the song ends up not taking the easy way out and doesn't kill herself...so it's a message of hope

Sense Field – Save Yourself Lyrics 23 years ago
if anyone's interested in what jon had to say about the meaning of this song, he said it's about "the difference between being with someone you care about and being with someone just because they're there" and "considering the emotional consequences of casual sex." (not about virginity or abstinence or waiting until marriage per se)...well that's what he told me

Dashboard Confessional – Screaming Infidelities Lyrics 23 years ago
okay, for all of you complaining about dashboard confessional "selling out" to mtv or whatever, i hate the commercialized pop garbage on mtv as much as anyone, but i think it's a bit unfair to be mad that the music is reaching a wider audience. oh, and a related tidbit -- at the weezer concert this week in LA (dashboard opened), chris introduced "screaming infidelities" by saying "this song is on the radio. we're really sorry."
