This song to me is all about organized religion and how it's tearing the world apart. It's ok to be religious just when you follow a mass of people it somehow never turns our right. And it has become too big and too powerful to do anything real about it. And unfortunately this has caused many people to turn away from religion, which is the boy playing with the shotgun. People who are having children now have turned free of those rules, which also causes havoc on society and if we don't change it will continue to do so. Then at the end, Max just takes a step back and says look I wasted your time. Quite literally "If i am truly so enlightened why'd I waste your time on it" saying he knows no more than you, and he is just making an observation of how things are. Truly amazing art and lyrics to be able to deliver such an amazing opinion and step back and say "hey i could be completely wrong, up to you guys" But classic say anything. Dual meanings, religion, and outstanding lyrics. |

And idk if you know much about Stephen Hawking but he was not supposed to live past like 15 or something and hes like 50 and is one of the greatest minds in our history. Just not listening at all to doctors and such. He has a great motivational speech. Also coupled with the fact he makes space puns. Classic Bemis dual meaning. | |

yellowcatredcat, I dont think he is looking down on the group. But more just the individuals that rely on substances to have a "good" time. You should be able to have an awesome time without drugs or alochol, while im sure most would agree they make it better, not necessary. And there is just so many people that I would love to scream "How is that worms eye-view" wow best friggin metaphor ever. |

Not gonna lie, everyone has great ideas and most of them I agree with. Its just that Max always seems to have more than one meaning for everything he writes which is what makes him so brilliant. Baseball is probably referring more to the past time of the sport, in the case of this song. But avid followers might also understand that he is slanting his old album. However, in the case of the song it is not important to understand. Also I think the cat here might be a derogatory term for women. . . just throwing it out there. |
