Daisy Chainsaw – Pink Flower Lyrics 12 years ago
The 'pink flower' represents the singer - defiant, bold and beautiful on the surface but quite vulnerable(easily 'cut down'). The 'real thing' is a person who is truly strong and confident with no inhibitions or pretences. There is self-pity in the words 'Poor pink flower'. I think she is also hopeful in that she is 'waiting for the sun to rise', there is hope that things will get better - however, 'My oh my, it looks searing' also implies fear and that the sun is also dangerous. 'I would flower if I could' implies a lack of self-belief and weakness.
In the second half, she is afraid of the future and loneliness ('Lovely people go on by my dreams).
However, it would seem she remains hopeful and resilient as the words 'Please, please, I've not yet grown tired of this earthly life' show she has not given up.
