I've edited the lyric; it's 'Don't stop this sound' in the verse after the first chorus, after hearing the live version (the recording isn't clear enough. Anyways, I think people overthink the meaning of the lyrics. It is probably about a guy who has been away from a girl he either longs for, or has separated from, for at least 10 years. That's why he is an 'eager man'. His desire for her has caused him to be 'dying'. When he saw her that day, he lost his mind (over her beauty or whatever). He hopes that maybe in time, she will want to be his. He hopes she will eventually see his love for her, that it will dawn upon her (hence, it's the dawn). And if she 'flees', he will go after her nonetheless. Despite its melancholy tune, this is a love song about unrequited love. Damon obviously wrote it drawing from personal inspiration; nothing to do with the animated characters in Gorillaz (though the MV is stunning). |
