| Tub Ring – Fruit of Knowledge Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Yo, the song is using clothes as a metaphor for technology, and fruit as a metaphor for knowledge. It alludes to the story of Genesis where they ate the fruit of knowledge, and then Adam and Eve saw that they were naked and put on clothes. "it wasn't old snake that dressed you/ it was temptation of the fruit" It is not evil that draws us to make technology, but humans are naturally inspired. "watcha gonna wear to the impending rapture/ and d'you think it will look good on me" And if technology is evil, then I'll see you in hell. On the other hand, "clothes on the animals" degrades humans that we are nothing more than animals with intelligence (true). And may even be criticizing our obsession with distinguishing ourselves from other animals, making fun of our denial that we are animals. |
