I respect your beliefs and all, but I think you that you have misinterpreted the lyrics somewhat. I think what the Professor is touching upon in this song is not that they are wasting their time, but that they blindly do these actions without asking why they're doing it. I have read over these lyrics numerous times and when looking at previous tracks, like "BU2B", one can gather that the individual that live in this steam punk world go with the grain, rather than against it. Why? Because they were brought up to believe. Also, to call them ungrateful is outlandish! They are some of the most humble musicians and grateful to those have supported them over the years. Whether those supporters be their fans, Buddha, God, or whoever... Rush are far from unappreciative. People find solace in many different forms. I actually found "Faithless" to be quite a moving piece of music from them. Hope and love are driving forces for many. You should not shun anybody for their beliefs. What happen to "Love thy neighbor"??? You should not judge one solely on their beliefs: "It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you." |
