I agree with your interpretation completely except about the last lines. I think your interpretation could be right, but I have another idea. The last lines could be a shift from the perspective of the daughter to the perspective of the singer, perhaps giving lines of encouragement to not give up on life. It's such a sad song. |

Those are such great lines. This song is so emotionally evocative. I like the parallel you point out with "My Dearest Friend". They both have a similar feeling. I think this song is from the perspective of a daughter who was sexually abused and impregnated by her father. |
