Yes, this song as a timeless masterpiece, the vocals are not from this world and the guitar riff is simply one of the best I ever heard in my life! Even saying that every singe tone in this song is simply amazing and could never be done better, there are indeed some parts, where Eric Burdon expresses his outstanding voice and his expression in a very special way. For example, when he sings: - Though I'm dressed in these rags, I'll wear sable some day - I'm gonna ride the serpent - openly lie No other words necessary! |

On my way on looking for the deeper meaning of this mega song, I stumbled on this site and after reading some comments I was listening to 'It's A Beautiful Day' and I really was kind of shocked. Don't get me wrong. For me Child In Time since my early days of listening to music always was one of the best songs ever and it will ever be one of the best musical masterpieces I have ever heard. I have listende to it many thousands of times and it accompanied me though all my life. But besides of always being Purple fan, I now must say that Child In Time is nothing else than a Cover version of Bombay Calling. The complete structure of the song is the same, even some parts of the guitar solo! Why they have been so bold, not to declare it as what it actually is: a somehow free interpreted cover version. This in my opinion is one of the rudest plagiarisms I have ever recognized! And it also in some way destroyed my respect towards DP for creating this masterpiece. Sorry to say this - but this really leaves me sad and uncomprehending. |
