| Styx – Come Sail Away Lyrics | 7 months ago |
|
The song was written when Styxx was still struggling to make a name for themselves. It is about life on the road and chasing their dreams. Sailing away is leaving to chase their dreams. They had some miner hits but nothing that made them a household name, They were touring nonstop but always an opening act never the headliner. This is their somehow missing out on the pot of gold. But still they try the best that they can. When the sailing switches from a boat to a starship, this is their still chasing the dream where ever it may lead. |

It's about a boy who is infatuated with a girl. The girl is the object of his affection but he is not really in love with her he is in love with being in love. He not leave the girl alone, constantly calling and following her. It's the chase that he cares about not her. If he really loved her he would pay attention to recognize what her desires are. Instead, he is so obsessed with proving his love to her that he tunes out everything else, including the messages she leaves him rebutting his advances. |

| Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me, Maybe Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song is not about love at first sight. She doesn't love him when she first see's him - she wants him gone, he's in her way. This song is about not knowing what one really wants. It starts with making a wish. Having a dream or desire that one wants. We never hear what it is, is it to go to medical school and become a doctor or just for a new pair of shoes? What doesn't matter, what matters is that a male is viewed as being in her way and preventing her from obtaining her wish. The boy is essentially all men, he represents the cultural glass ceiling which oppresses and holds women down. She tells the boy he's in her way and he gets out of her way, she is free to move toward whatever it is she wants. She doesn't move on she now wants the boy instead persuading her goal she is more interested in where the boy is going. Once given the opportunity to pursue her dream it was no longer important, when given the choice between a successful independent female or a dependent housewife she chose the later, she goes after the boy. The real meaning of the song is that no matter how crazy it seems women prefer their traditional roles to the more modern feminist narrative. |
