| The Doors – People Are Strange Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| The song is pretty simplistic when you read it as if you were Jim. "People are strange when you're a stranger." This is simply stating the obvious. "Faces look ugly when you're alone." This is the iidea that when he has been alone for so long he became a customed to it and new people become "ugly" or unwanted to him. "Women seem wicked when you're unwanted." This describes his feeling towards women when he feels like nobody wants him. "Streets are uneven when you're down." This is a little more in depth because when he was sad he drank alcohol. As he walked down the street drunk, the streets felt "uneven." This was actually him losing his balance but blaming the street. "When you're strange faces come out of the rain." This means that when nobody wanted to be around Jim or understands him. He finds comfort in the only thing he has which was the rain. The faces he depicts from the rain understand his sorrow and who he is. "When you're strange no one remembers your name." This is Jim just describing the feeling of someone being an outcast obviously because everybody new his name. He may have felt this way at some point and recalled that feeling for the song. We know that sometimes constructive writting by other members of the band would change some lyrics. So this may also be a line from a member of The Doors that felt he doesnt get enough recognition. Either way this song is great and the lyrics are depicted well enough to relate to someone at some point in their life. | |
