| Meat Loaf – Where The Rubber Meets The Road Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| "Where the rubber meets the road" wasn't written by Jim Steinman, it was written by Sarah Durkee and Paul Jacobs. Only two songs on Welcome to the Neighbourhood were written by Steinman, "Original Sin" and "Left In the Dark". | |
| Meat Loaf – Cheatin' In Your Dreams Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I'm not sure what the meaning of the song but here is my opinion. It starts with a man who loves a woman (there beat a heart for you). She had a certain power over him (you controlling every move I made) and she abused that power (all the pain and you put me through it). She breaks his heart by cheating on him whether it is actually physically sleeping with someone else or just fantasizing about another or both. The lines “you told me I’m your greatest lover, do you even know what that word means” and “you lovin’ is coolin’” makes me think she took the relationship less seriously than him. I think she said the name of her other lover, whether it be in her sleep or during an intimate moment (Stop it! Don’t you say a word). Out of anger he strangles her (I feel my hands around her neck) and now he has lost her (she slipped from out my hands). The line “Say lay so still and lifeless” makes me believe he killed her. | |
| Pandora's Box – The Opening of the Box Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is actually just the last 2 minutes of The Storm. The Storm is an instrumental piece from Jim Steinman’s album Bad for Good. Compared to The Storm, I personally don’t like this song. The Opening Of The Box is missing the first 2.5 minutes from The Storm. Those missing minutes give the song a different feel. | |
| Pandora's Box – Safe Sex Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song isn’t really about “safe sex”. It’s about having sex with someone and falling in love with them. She’s not a stupid girl, she knows that a guy will say “I love you” just to get her into bad (I don’t believe everything that I’m told). She has been hurt by love before and won’t be taken advantage of again (I’ve been around and I know the ropes / And I won’t get fooled again). She doesn’t believe in “true love” or “happily ever after” (I don’t believe in no fairy tales… / I got no illusions now, I guess I lost them long ago). If she sleeps with him she is afraid she will falling in love (And there’s no such thing as safe sex / When it comes to loving you). She doesn’t want to end up heartbroken after having sex with him (There’s always the danger of losing control / And of breaking my heart and exposing my soul) but she feels like she can’t stop herself from wanting him (There’s just no protection from that look in your eyes / Or the touch of your hands). She knows that whenever she sleeps with him there is a chance that she could love him and he will hurt her (There’s always a risk of surrendering more / Than I ever intended to do). He has been around and she thinks he could have broken hearts before (You’re not such an innocent boy). She’s fears giving him her heart and the possibility of him breaking it (There no guarantee I can handle it all). I love this song! Jim Steinman is an amazing song-writer. |

| Def Leppard – Animal Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This is one of my favorite Def Leppard songs. I love the pause at toward the end of the song. You think the song is over then you hear... "And I want!". I scream that line everytime. | |
| Great White – Mother's Eyes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song is about a mother whose child has died. Slowly she turns away / Oh, don't look anymore (She sees the body of her child) There's only stillness / No more air can he draw (The child isn’t breathing, he’s dead) No time to say goodbye / No last little kiss No life where bullets fly / And now it comes to this (The child died because he was shot) What's left in her world / The child's gone (The mother has nothing left to live for without her child) Softly she whispers / Where did I go wrong (She blames herself for the child’s death) My future, my baby / Tell me what's goin' on (She’s confused about what will become of her life now) No light in mother's eyes / Nothing you can say (She seems to be lifeless and nothing anyone says will make her feel otherwise) No reason for the whys / She'll ask every day (She will never know why her child died) What's left in her world / The child's gone (The mother has nothing left to live for without her child) When I hear this song I think about the school shots that happen all too often. But the age of the child is never mentioned so he could be older than assumed. If he is older, his death could be gang related or even a random act of violence. |

| Meat Loaf – All Revved Up With No Place To Go Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This song describes the beginning of a relationship between a young couple. "You and me 'round about midnight. Someone's got to draw first blood... Oh I got to draw first blood." This part of the song is about taking a girl's virginity. Great song! It's too bad "All Revved Up With No Place To Go" wasn't more popular. My favorite line of the song is "Oh, baby, I'm a hunter in the dark of the forest. I've been stalking you and tracking you down." |
