| Leatherface – How Lonely Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I think this song is about all the young men that died in the trenches of the first world war. The lyrics " They're given guns, their given minds". Telling us that the soldiers know nothing of the enemy and the government is trying to program the minds of new recruits for war then given a rifle then to go fight. I think the main part "How lonely" Refers to soldiers who were never found or buried unidentified and all the war graves in France and Belgium that are barely ever visited. Next the lyrics "I don't understand the waste doing nothing ending life" I think that's about all the wasted life during many attempt advances like the Somme for example where many men went over the top and never came back. Then the lyric "Doing nothing" I think describes the stalemate for the four years as the trench lines barely ever moved. Finally the lyric "Then the war came they are not the same". I think this describes the shellshock and/or the guilt of surviving that affected many veterans and led some to suicide. A good song but very dark. |
