umm... no i have yet to find this interview but it is said that Matt was a plumber and his co-worker was a drug dealer and when Matt asked him why he dealt his response was "there's no rest for the wicked." Matt said that he wrote the lyrics on a piece of drywall that he found while working in his co-workers house. |

...where do i start..? First paragraph you pretty much just took the lyrics from the song and didn't explain anything that isn't already in the lyrics, also there are no puns there. A play on words, either on different senses of the same word or on the similar sense or sound of different words. Known in rhetoric as paronomasia. And she didn't mean that it was the easiest way to make money but the only way that she can make money.
Second verse is not about a gun man but SOME RANDOM GUY WITH A GUN... who robs him. "the captive" is still the narrator, not a different person. And once again it isn't the easiest way to make money but the only way he can. |
