I think perhaps the writer has placed 'there was never anything there' as a tongue in cheek joke. 'You've probably missed it' because the whole story is the hypothetical situation of a blind person seeing a sight for sore eyes.... and a sight for sore eyes would generally be something of which those with their vision would probably not want to see. The song wins me over with its fantastic opening two lines :) |
