I think this song is about a woman who is closed to falling in love hence with "you don't know me" But she is telling this partner "you are free to love" her and that she happily will receive this if this is all he needs but she can't promise the same in return. She can't be replaced because she never gave herself, she was an empty space. So basically anything he feels is a fantasy, can be deleted and rewritten anyway he likes because it's how he interprets her. I can be wrong but this is what I feel. <3 |

This song I believe is Thom Yorke opening up about the industry (music/ acting)- People are constantly critiquing, criticizing, breaking artists down, pulling limb by limb and tooth by tooth all the time, every day, non stop. He wishes he was bullet proof to deal with the demands and all the chaos. 'Limb by limb and tooth by tooth Tearing up inside of me Every day every hour I wish that I was bullet proof' Then society, fans, people try to change, suggest, push our wants, ideas on to these artists and we are never satisfied so when he turns resentful or angry after we "wax, mold, heat pins and stab" he states we turned him into this- fragile soul who wishes they were bulletproof. "Wax me Mold me Heat the pins and stab them in You have turned me into this Just wish that it was bullet proof Was bullet proof' We will buy cd's, watch movies, go to concerts, pay these same people we break down, so he is saying pay him money and take a shot as in continue to break these artists down.I could burst a million bubbles is just a metaphor how overwhelmed, and exhausted and torn down he is at this point. This is about some one who is in LOVE/ in LUST with someone but has finally come to terms that the person will not reciprocate and now they have accepted this but will still give all they have anyway. "I will shape myself into your pocket Invisible Do what you want I will shrink and I will disappear I will slip into the groove and cut me off"- This is someone who is willing to lose themselves and shape to other person's pocket, and lose their self-respect. "There's an empty space inside my heart Where the weeds take root And now I'll set you free I'll set you free"- This goes on to say that the spot that he/ she had for this person is now filled with weeds/ dirt/ filler and because of this they are letting him go in the the sense that he/she doesn't expect the same in return anymore. There seems to be someone else or a reason why they cannot be together but this person has lost all self respect because when this person/obstacle is gone, they will be there for them to do as they wish. So this is someone who will give themselves sexually, emotionally, physically and now is not attached.This is a symbol of connecting, becoming one without the "title" This person is a weakness to them, a habit that cannot be quit. And when you give yourself to someone who won't give themselves to you- you are just... filling their "fast ballooning head" 'Listen to your heart'.- seems to be a plea to this person to let go, and let this person back in.
