| Fink – Yesterday Was Hard On All Of Us Lyrics | 12 years ago |

this song is about a man looking back at what he missed. he had an opportunity with a woman, they fell for each other. but they could only belong to each other in theory, they couldn't actually be together. life made it happen another way. but his feelings were true. and he knows that their encounter was somewhat meant to be ("our paths they cross"), but he doesn't know what is wrong or right, he doesn't know he should give up what he built up ("who can we trust from here"), and he is scared what would the other people say if they got together ("with all these eyes on us"). they have both been fantasizing so much about each other that they know exactly what would happen if they finally got together, they have been preparing for the 'real' thing ("it's almost like it's kind of rehearsed")... the man or woman probably married, with a kid... yesterday was hard on all of us --> they have been struggling to fight their feelings, but no matter what, they are real, they are here. and also, the woman has been present only in his head, but her presence is constant, but sometimes he wonders about how real it is since his love has never been embodied ("And are you real or just something from wanderlust?") --- funny enough i got to know fink when this exact situation happened to me with a married man... also recommending "nothing is ever finished" by fink as well. kinda similar theme... with awesome references to great gatsby. |
