That's how it would apply to me. Wishing for friends who have died to still be here. It was actually about Syd Barrett who was Roger Waters friend who tripped out on ACID and the old Syd was no more. So a lot of what you said is right but yeah for me it's about friends who have died. |

I think it draws on the fact that what you accomplish in life all that is left is your legacy. What you build up you can leave for your family but can't take it with you when you die. Think I heard the other day that NIN aren't going to do it again cos they thought they'd never be able to do it as well as Johnny Cash and despite being their song out of respect for Cash's version wouldn't sing it again. |
