Hmmm it seems to be about taking a leap of faith or exploring new territory, using historical seafaring exploration as the metaphor. Bloody Cape is a reference to Cape of Good Hope or Cape Horn, the southern points of South America and Africa, both known for their dangerous waters. The "fall off of the earth" line is a reference to the old idea that the earth was flat and explorers who went too far would fall off the edge of the earth. Besides that I have no idea. : / |

It's about being toyed with by a girl (either sexually or emotionally) to the point of sadism. He longs to be with her but she's reduced him to the level of a plaything to be used her own enjoyment. And it drives him crazy with desire. |

REALLY creepy song about electrocuting a woman in a bathtub. At first, he's gently bathing her, but that's not enough, he wants "MORE" and feels compelled to electrocute and kill her ("you breathed, and then you stopped"). The title Digital Bath implies electrocution. |

Yeah I think it's either about terrorism/suicide bombings in general or the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in particular. The religious themes of the song are in reference to the religious aspects of the dispute and suicide bombing in general. |

Jesus am I the only one who thinks this song is totally BADASS?? Reminds me a lot of Korn's "Wicked" cover. Hell the instrumentals even sound a bit like Korn, which is awesome. |

I know a lot of people are seeing S&M themes but I just don't see that here. The "shove her over the railing" line HAS to be about domestic abuse. I don't see how it could be about anything else. |

The hell, guys? If it's about Chi then how to do you explain the chains and device lyrics? Sounds a lot more like a BDSM relationship. Specifically a love letter from a slave to his mistress. Objectification ("I became your device"), sexual servitude ("to lay and to soothe"), and restraints/cages ("in chains, entombed") are all common elements of BDSM, and these lyrics are too explicit not to notice. Look this stuff up if you don't believe me. Feiticeira (which sounds almost like "fetish") contains BDSM themes as well. |

Ok, it's obviously written from the perspective of a stalker/predator and shares several similarities with Prosthetics. Most of the lyrics point to this conclusion. The lyrics specifically talking about disease ("this is the virus of life") seems to be about the predator's "sickness" or disturbing behavior being linked with his very existence and identity. He's alive, and thus he's a sick human being. The two are inseparable. He can't be cured... |

Guys, the Purity Knight story is a hoax. It's not real, do the research. The chorus seems to be written from the perspective of a predator. "You all stare but you'll never see there's something inside me," gives off a wolf in sheep's clothing kind of vibe. |

Written from the perspective of a sexual predator. The lyrics trace a predator's behavior from sexual obsession to kidnapping to the self-guilt and shame felt afterwards ("damnit man, I knew it was a mistake"). The ending leaves the story ambiguous as to what happens to the victim. Creepy deranged stuff. |

um holy shit. This is a fascinating interpretation. The straightforward cycles of abuse theory is probably more accurate, but there are several religions references in the song lend themselves to this kind of interpretation. Intriguing as fuck, now I need to listen to the song again |

Yes the song could be about the cycles of abuse (victims evolve to become perpetrators), but I always envisioned this song to be about direct retaliation and revenge. In other words, the victim in the song grows up to later molest his molester. It speaks to a sick sense of justice and the desire for vengeance on those who've done us harm. The line "I've come full circle," I've always interpreted to mean a literal coming full circle by abusing the one who had abused him before. In this light, I see the song as more about the disturbing catharsis one receives (or wants to receive) from unsympathetic revenge. Could very well be about cycles of abuse but I like to think of the song as being on a more personal, vengeful level. A kind of "you did it to me now I'm going to do it to you" vibe that's actually probably more disturbing than the cycles of abuse theory. Tool has sung about vigilante justice before... |

According to Chino, it's a song about being kidnapped. In addition, lines like "gnawing on the ball" and "made me touch the machine" give it an eerie BDSM kinda feel. But the final implication is that there's no escape from Feiticeira. She keeps saying "soon I'll let you go," but there's no end in sight.
Creepy. Sexy. Dark. I like it. |

It's really just an anthem of rebellion to authority, particularly parents. The references to Stephen King's short story, Children of the Corn (which is about a group of kids that kill their parents and start a cult) to empathize this theme. |

The song is about groupies, and could even be interpreted to be about prostitutes. You pay them to screw, not talk. Groupies hand around for a relationship and connection, but Davis is saying he only cares about them for the sex. |

| Tool – The Pot Lyrics

The song is about marijuana legislation specifically and generally about legislative hypocrisy. "Who are you to wave your finger?...eyeball deep in muddy waters, etc"
Maynard is basically saying "who are you to judge me? who gave you the right to say what's right and what's wrong?" |

| Tool – Eulogy Lyrics

|
I'm getting a very sardonic vibe at the beginning of the song, like Maynard is saying goodbye to someone that no one liked. He was loudly opinionated and it got him killed, prompting Maynard to mock his ideological and foolish martyrdom, while THEN commenting that what this man was so opinionated about didn't really matter anyways ("he had a lot of NOTHING to say").
So it's a final farewell to an opinionated idiotic martyr who nobody liked. |

This one of Korn's most brilliant and imaginatively-written songs. It's about finding predatory pedophilia in the places you'd least expect it. It's about the loss of innocence to a wolf in sheep's clothing. Obviously, they are not talking about the actual Mr. Rogers, but like only they can, they use his catchphrases (like "be my neighbor") and turn them into something dark and menacing. Brilliant. Vicious. |
