To me, this song is about everything being shit and being sick of it, and depression. I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real This is pretty obvious, he's talking about self harm. You hurt yourself when you your emotional pain becomes too much that you detach yourself, and the only way to keep yourself in the real world is to hurt yourself, to remind yourself that you actually exist. The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything This focuses in on drug use it seems, people using drugs to forget, to kill the mental agony- but nothing can take away the bad stuff. What have I become My sweetest friend Everyone I know Goes away in the end this seems to be him talking to someone with him, apparently a friend. He's tired, and sick of who he is, and everyone leaving him- maybe because he's depressed and they can't handle it, or maybe thats the cause of his depression. And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt this seems, to me, as though he is asking someone out, but he views his life as an "empire of dirt"- a pile of shit. He already warns them that he'll let them down etc because he's gotten used to being left and assumes its always his fault. I wear this crown of shit Upon my liar's chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair here he is pretty much describing how shitty his life is and how he's fallen so low it seems that he can never get back to where he was before. Beneath the stains of time The feelings disappear You are someone else I am still right here this seems to be referencing a break up, it reminds me of in High Fidelity (great book and film) when Laura tells Rob that he's the same person he was at the start of the relationship, but she's grown and changed. "the stains of time" part suggests that perhaps repeated bouts of depression or just time/life itself have numbed him. then the chorus If I could start again A million miles away I will keep myself I would find a way he wants to be okay, and he wishes that he'd done things differently so he'd be okay- but now he's gone too deep and theres no going back. this song feels very personal, and i feel like it describes how i was in my periods of depression perfectly. Great song |

| I have absolutely no idea what this song is about but i love the guitars and stuff. It's so random I don't think it has ANY meaning... it's like when in art my teacher says "what do you think this dude is saying by drawing a green line there" and i just think NOTHING. THERE IS NO MEANING. HE JUST FELT LIKE IT. same with this song. | |

this song is basically about being alienated, and someone making you feel like you're not good enough. I can totally relate, and i think she's telling whoever she's singing this at (yes at, not to) that's she's sick of them and how they make her feel, and she's gonna just walk away. Pandora :) |

To me the actual SOUND of this song made me think of a heart breaking, loss and loneliness, and after looking a the lyrics, its seems i had the right gist. I think people are looking to literally into "baby i'll bleed you dry"- it has NOTHING to do with vampires (i don't think). This is just an automatic assumption because of all the teenage vampire romances going around. Anyways. The first 4 lines is basically him talking about a girl he's loved and lost. I think the 5th and 6th lines are him talking about hiding from her, either shes furious because he broke it off, or there's something about her that is completely terrifying. it could also mean that life burns, and he's hiding from life. after that he seems to sing about how he'd go through all that pain again because he's completely crazy about her, even though they'll just hurt each other. "open your eyes" i think is him beginning to realise that maybe she's not as amazing as he thought. and then onto the line that everyone thinks is about vamps. "baby I'll bleed you dry" this is talking about emotion, dragging all the love and pain and everything out of you until there's nothing life. he could be repeating what she said. "its coming closer" a battle, or a storm is coming closer, they're working up to a final showdown, or it could be that he's in so much pain and he's so filled with sadness that he feels his end is coming, that he can't hold on anymore. then it's pretty self explanatory up until "feels so good but i'm old"- i THINK this means he's getting tired of on-again-off-again relationships, and even though it feels good to mess around, eventually he's going to have to stop. then it's back to "and it's coming closer" and it ends with those lyrics and crescendos into a big dramatic, sorrowful guitar bit which is the final battle. you hear a moaning guitar sound along with the "blooping" noise, which is like his heartbeat, which finally comes to an end. In the beginning there is also a spooky echoey guitar scream, and it sound likes someone wailing/screaming in pain and loneliness. This is such a sad song, and sends shivers down my spine whenever i hear it, it's one of my all time favourite songs, and i can totally relate. Sorry if this is a bit rambling, it's my first post, i feel so strongly about this song, and all the vampire stuff- *Sigh* sorry i'm rambling Pandora :) |
