I think it is about a relationship with an older more exprienced person, lisa, and another who has adulation for their mentor or crush. "Lisa's kissing men like a long walk home When the music stops Take a tip from me, don't go through the park When you're on your own, it's a long walk home" Lisa realizes that the situation between the two has no long term value. She knows she is on her own. "Don't look back" She has to avoid emotional fallout of encouraging the relationship further.. "it's not the money that their after, boy, it's you" This means that the benefit for the boy with Lisa is an obsession to possess her rather than focus on what he appreciates and has learned from her. "Your worth the trouble" That means that at least the boy did learn some things and Lisa and the boy/man would do the same again if they had a redo on life. "Tenderly you turn the light out in their room" This means that Lisa does like the boy, but she sees that he has an unhealthy obsession with her, |

It was 2001 and I had my first breakdown. My whole life was destroyed it felt like. I was always a genius student and now I couldn't do that because of my mental illness. So the lines "listen to your crazy laugh.... before you hang a right.... and disappear from sight"... Also the line "your going up your going down your going nowhere.... when your legs are black and blue it's time to take a break it's time to take a holiday" I seriously stopped a suicide attempt because I heard this song. So yeah that song is my favorite or else I wouldn't have been here. Thanks B&S. |
