I connected with this song as it kind of describes a lot of what I have felt. "I haven't stopped your smoking yet So I'll share your cigarette Just to feel it in my fingers" - I took this as being in a relationship and seeing the direction its going in, as a negative one. I haven't stopped your smoking yet could refer to how a person thought they could change their partner but now all they can do is hold on to what they used to have. "just to feel it in my fingers", could mean just to have that person you love close to you. "Walk around 'til 3am Tell me what I know again To keep myself from second guessing" - I saw this as a plea for reassurance, he is asking her to tell him that it wont end and that she wont leave him. All my silver dreams bring me to you - This is the idea of thinking about the other person and finding your thoughts with them when you are not together. Hold the summer in your hands 'Til the summer turns to sand We were staring at our ceilings Thinking of what we'd give to have one more day of sun One day of sun - This is wanting to remain or go back to the time when they were happy together and wanting that back. Whilst you're with someone you don't think of the way its going to end. You don't know what you've had until it is gone. Great song |
