| Man Man – Doo Right Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I interpret it as a declaration of someone's love for another after things fell apart. The part of "I can't breathe under water like I used to 'fore I met you" had me for a while. What do you do to breathe under water without the aid of any apparatus? You hold your breath. Well you can't breathe under water if someone steals your breath - figuratively. Very beautiful twist on words, in my opinion. Other things like scruples in shambles and throwing bricks at the moon point to him acting out of character and his futile attempts to get her attention back (I relate this last part to the "throwing bricks at the moon" - throw bricks at the moon, they won't reach it). I feel I'm trying to interpret this song in a very simple minded way and will not say this is the exact meaning of Honus's words. He seems like a deep guy. Still, it's fun to try to build meanings of others' words. | |
