Blunt lyrics about the grotesque and horrible reality of many women in the world. One of those few metal songs I can say is very much feminist. |

The part of this song that really gets me is ''question mom and question dad, question good and question bad''. And I honestly think this two lines in particular really apply to more than sex in the song. Questioning your parents and questioning what we believe of as good and bad is pretty good advice just generally. |

Do I get killed if I say I like to think of the lyrics in a political sense? In that case, I guess the lyrics feel kind of socialist or at least anti-capitalist |

When I read 1984, the parts of Julia and Winston really made me think of this song. He first started wanting to hurt her (goes with the author's intention of *cut* in ribbons), and the whole thing about her not caring about or understanding politics and other things when he talked about those things to her makes sense with the song. The only thing probably that doesn't go is ''I tried to tell her about Marx & Engels, God & angels'' for obvious reasons. ''Incoming!'' makes sense when applied to the death that they knew was coming to them when they were together. ''Love is a splintered thing'' could be about their relationship not being actually pure love, but a form of rebellion. |
